Houses contain the paradoxical possibilities of security and confinement. A house can symbolize a safe place, a sanctuary viscerally expressed by the archetypal suburban house shape drawn by children. But the same walls that contain the home "maker" in safety can restrain her from making a life separate from the house and the family. Housework is endless. Sometimes soulwork needs to leave home to get done.
